It’s no secret at this point that AI is changing the day to day lives of so many professionals across a variety of different industries, experience levels, and positions. Copilot is being used in the creation of this blog, to give context to it's true power.

Copilot serves as a robust tool, enabling individuals throughout an organization to discover unique use cases tailored to their needs. Let’s take a deeper dive into the most common and practical uses of Copilot.

Use Cases for Everyone

With this revolutionary tool, an accountant can use Copilot to draft a spreadsheet and gain valuable insights on a company’s current financial trends. A marketing professional can use Copilot to draft a PowerPoint on the newest product they would like to promote. A sales professional such as myself can use Copilot to summarize meetings and get insights into my client’s needs that I may have missed in real time.

Check out this blog on how to use Microsoft Copilot to boost your productivity!

Email Summarization

I’ve talked to a lot of different professionals across different departments and industries, and there seems to be a constant theme: too many emails in their inbox, and spending way too much time reading those emails. With Copilot, those long and overwhelming email threads can get condensed into a quick and easy to read summary, while still maintaining the key points that are crucial to understanding the context of the email.

Here’s a short clip to show this feature in action.

Summarizing Meetings

In addition to too many emails, there seems to be a common sentiment of too many meetings - and to be more specific, too much information on these meetings. Being double-booked or just simply missing a piece of information is a common occurrence in meetings, which Copilot can resolve. Copilot provides in depth summaries of meetings and is a great tool to fill in gaps that may be lost in real-time.

Creating PowerPoints

Creating presentations to show the value of a product, to explain the effects of a new project, or to communicate data is another common occurrence in the modern workplace. Creating a first draft of a quality PowerPoint is often a multi-hour project at the minimum, but with Copilot it is now a multi-minute project and can be even faster for shorter presentations.

While it is still always recommended for a human to revise a presentation, creating the initial draft is by far the most time-consuming part of a presentation.

Creating & Analyzing Spreadsheets

Excel is a more than capable application for organizing data and analyzing trends. However, there are some challenges in utilizing Excel to its full capacity. Learning how to enter the exact correct prompt, and navigating the seemingly endless number of options available can be highly time-consuming and even a bit frustrating at times.

With Copilot, you can simply type in what you are looking to interpret from the data, or what you would like to be changed. And if that wasn’t enough, the insights can also be extracted from the data, without wasting precious human brain power and energy.

Here’s a clip of it in action.

Having too many things to do and not enough time to do it is the rule, and not the exception in the modern workplace. There is truly no resource more precious than time, and turning projects that previously would take hours into projects that take 5 minutes is an absolute gamechanger.

The versatility and capability of Copilot to integrate into various applications is powerful, but all of the different features can be overwhelming. Summarizing emails, meetings, spreadsheets and creating/editing PowerPoints are some great places to start in the utilization of Copilot, as these are common tasks performed by a variety of professionals.
